As a college friend of Heather's, and in turn, a long-time family friend, it was with great sadness that I learned of Mr. Marquardt's (Bill's) passing. He and Beth welcomed me into their home when I moved to Chicago in 1994 and always made me feel like one of the family. We also shared the same birthday so I especially thought of him on that day. Our condolences are with the entire Marquardt family and we will continue to keep you in our prayers. And, Randy, I look forward to the details about the famed "Grandpa Sandwich". We would be thrilled to extend the tribute.

As my father-in-law, Bill was a man I looked up to with great admiration and love. Bill put his family first; was known as as great father, an awesome grandfather, mentor and has a network of friends and family worldwide, keeping in contact with everyone from US to Scotland. Bill was a part of an exclusive tennis group in Cuchara as well as an active member of the Cuchara Chapel, where he served in many capacities from college scholarship board, as book keeper, vestry and made sure all his grandchildren and niece/nephews all had a chance to lite the candles at this mountain top chapel. He also invented the Grandpa Sandwich, a local favorite with our children, and a great way to remember Bill over the years to come.

Bill was a gentleman, an excellent banker, great family man, good listener, mentor, a "regular guy" in the most universal and positive sense. Fanchon joins me in sending our kind thoughts and prayers during this dificult time.
