George E. Ott Jr., 89 of Arlington Heights passed away peacefully on September 29th at Midwest Hospice at Northwest Community Hospital surrounded by his family. George was born December 30, 1925 in Wayne, Pennsylvania to the late George E. Sr. and Ruth (nee Balch) Ott. George was the beloved husband of the late Catherine E. "Katie"; loving father of George E III (Laura) Ott, John P. (Michele) Ott and Joseph M. (Dawn) Ott; cherished grandfather of George E. IV. Jim, Dan, Mike, John P. Jr., Sarah and Tom and dear brother of the late Joseph Ott, Frank Ott, Elizabeth Tindle, John Ott, Ruth Hunt, Nancy Hobson and Jeannie Simes. George was a proud World War 2 veteran serving his country as an Army Staff Sargent aboard an aircraft repair ship in the Pacific theater in places that included the Philippines and the Sea of Japan. He was a 1950 graduate of Penn State University and a member of the SAE fraternity and remained a Penn State football fan throughout his life. Shortly after graduating from Penn State, George began his career as a salesman with Honeywell. He spent his entire career with Honeywell retiring as a Vice President in 1986. George married Katie in 1955 and began raising their family moving from Wayne to Birmingham, Michigan to Edina, Minnesota finally settling in Arlington Heights. George enjoyed family vacations, coaching his boys in little league, fishing trips with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren. George will be remembered by all that knew him for his kindness, generosity, engaging personality and keen sense of humor. He was truly one of a kind. Memorial visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Family and friends will gather on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 9:15 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Street, Arlington Heights for memorial mass at 9:30 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, 35 E. Wacker Drive, Suite 2260, Chicago, IL 60601 appreciated.
