Joan
Our family has moved to Arizona, we just saw the notice in the Tribune.
Our sincerest condolences for the loss of such a dedicated principal for so many years. I was one of the PTC Presidents that participated in the retirement celebration for him. I gladly donned the "sister habit" to sing the
Tribute to Glenn with a parody from The Sound of Music. It was just meant to show him how we all truly appreciated his leadership.
I can still see him leading the Halloween march around the school as the headless rider with a pumpkin head carried on his hip. I know how much he enjoyed those parades...unfortunately they were stopped when they combined the schools because some of the moms were sure we were suggesting something negative instead of just letting the children enjoy a little party.
When my youngest daughter graduated to Glencrest I mentioned to Glenn that the school should be named for him....he pooh poohed the idea....I still think it would be most appropriate to do so! I think he was amused with the Park View Panther watch I had made for him as our gift to him at the end of my term. I know that all of the Park View families were so grateful for his years of service. Joan, it must have been so hard for you these last few years. May you have some peace and happiness. Pamela Patton

I always loved singing songs with Glenn and Dan before church on Sunday mornings. Growing up at Aldersgate would not have been the same without him. He was such an amazing person, so glad I got to get to know him. He is definitely in a better place now. Much love to you all!

Joan and family,
We have many memories of Glen leading the singing before Sunday School. He always made it a fun time for the children. He always had a cross for them on their birthday. We enjoyed the Sunday School class that he taught. Dik enjoyed breakfast with the RAMS. In the beginning, Glen had a work project for them to do after breakfast. Aldersgate hasn't been the same since you haven't been able to come. He made Aldersgate a wonderful church and he is missed.
Love,
Nancy and Dik

Joan & family,
I have many happy memories of your dad, leading the singing before Sunday school with his dance conducting, playing games with us kids at Wednesday night picnics, and his ringing baritone in choir. This world was a better place with him and he will be greatly missed.
Much love,

To Mr Rogers' family, Thank you for sharing him wIth us at Parkview. He was the consummate "Gentle Giant" that never missed saYing a single 'Good morning' to every student, teacher, staff or anyone that belonged to the Parkview Family. He had a way of turning what most would think of as just a place of learning, Mr. Rogers saw it as a place of community and used his position as principal as the leader of that community and everyone, no matter where you came from, how you dressed, how much or little you or your family had, all received the greatest gift he or anyone could give, his greatest gift was his heart and all the amazing lessons we eqaully learned from him and his ability to treat everyone as an equal. This didn't end With the last day you attended or worked at Parkview, or even the other schools he worked, but as you continued on with your education and beyond, He would ask about your personal family and amazingly enough, anyone that you may still hang out with despite sitting in one of two semi comfortable chairs outside his office door as he tries to imagine what lead to you sitting in one of said chairs.
I believe there's a lot that can still be learned from a person like Mr. Rogers for there wasn't a negative binge in the man anywhere. He will be greatly missed and it'll be a long time coming before we realize anyone who would come close to the amazing man that taught me and many others so much more than general education.

The kids and I send our condolences. We are not able to attend in body, but are with you all in our hearts and souls. When I told the kids, Andrew said "you remeber the nice guy with the cowboy string ties ". Glen will be missed, but on to a better place setting up the tents for our arrivals....

Wishing to send my condolences to the entire Rogers Family. I met Mr. Rogers, about 39 years ago when I transferred to Park View Elementary School in the middle of 2nd grade. What a great school experience that needs to be attributed to him. Great memories of fun fairs, 5th grade outdoor education, field trips, a safe and sensible school to learn in. I'm thankful that we moved. He will be greatly missed by many students like me.
