Dearest Father David - So many memories come flooding back. From Luella Avenue to Rod & Gun to Beirut. What a ride! Thank you
Father Murphy was a great person. My dad Dick Westley is showing Fr Murphy around heaven now with all the Notre Dame Group people who are in heaven waiting for him
Father David, I am forever grateful for having been your friend! From the Thinking Persons' Week-end Workshops at Notre Dame , teaching my daughter at Saint Mary's, to consoling me in the 1980s, and at the very early years of precious Old St, Pat's Masses you were always there for all your followers on the path to where you have arrived!
Rest in peace, Fr. David and enjoy your huge reunion with God and all your friends!
May He Rest in Peace! Don Oelrich (our CHS for Boys Class President'66) & I had the privilege of Interviewing Fr. David for the "Carmel at 50" Anniversary Book while he still lived down here in Southwest Florida at the Carmel Priory Just outside of Nokomis (Venice area). We shared many memories of those first years at what was then called Carmel High School for Boys, but in his introductory letter to our parents after that first very wet day ( we had to walk on planks to the rear entrance of the still unfinished school and there was water in the hallways being mopped up by the Carmelites)... Fr. David called us Carmel Men! How prophetic that statement and influential he and all the other Carmelite Priests at Carmel were in shaping us into men. I am sure all of us from the "Charter Class of '66" will join in saying a huge prayer of "Thanks Fr. Dave" and give our best to Fr Fintan (John Russell O'Carm ) when you see him in heaven
