Erwin was one of my bosses @ DeSoto, Inc., in the '80's, who quickly became a dear friend, mentor, a surrogate father--I've missed him ever since I left the company in 1988. An exceptional man in many ways, enduring in all ways.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my former brother-in-law Erwin. I last spoke to him about 4 years ago when we visited my former neighborhood in Citrus Hills, FL. He was a kind man. I always think of him when we go to Lou Malnati's Pizza, my favorite pizza, which he introduced me to in Arlington Heights. My condolences to the family.
It is always a sad time to note the passing of someone with whom you've shared good times and who contributed significantly in the growth of others. Erwin helped propel our R&D team to many successes in the 1990's. We will miss him.
I am saddened to hear of Erwin's death but glad he returned to be with family. We had many good discussions and shared much laughter. He will always hold a special place in my heart.
I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of one of the kindest, most generous gentlemen I have ever had the pleasure to know. Erwin and I became colleagues and friends at DeSoto, sharing many laughs at work and late Friday nite poker games. I will always remember his generosity and willingness to help others, particularly after he entered his retirement years. I am grateful for having gotten to know him, and I will cherish his memory.
I have to second what Chander mentioned--Erwin was my mentor when I first graduated and started at DeSoto, and his friendly and helpful attitude was extremely beneficial to me and to the whole team. The golf, poker, investment advice was very welcome, and he was just a great friend.
We are deeply sorry to hear about passing away of Erwin Poklacki. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your loved one. Erwin was my mentor when I joined Desoto late in 1989. He selflessly taught me how to make urethane oligomers, a skill that I still use in parts of the business that I manage. Erwin was a very kind man, he included me in poker games with his friends and dispensed investing advise to help save for the future. I am sorry that we did not stay in touch for all these years. Erwin was a good scientist, mentor, friend and a family man. We will miss him.
Erwin was one of the kindest gentlemen I have known. It is very sad to hear of his passing. I will miss his friendship. Bob Hinrichs
