Mrs Kapsis was my French teacher in 1983 at Mather HS.
I was very reluctant at attempting a 3rd language, but upon meeting Madame Kapsis I was excited. She called everyone poopsie ;)
I went on to take French 2 more years and later minored in French in college. My first trip to Paris in my early twenties was dedicated to my favourite teacher, Madame Kapsis. She would tell us about Paris and I would imagine myself walking the streets whilst Edith Piaf serenaded me. My friend Queta and I would study French on the way home and didn't care that people thought us to be nuts. Puckering as Madame Kapsis would in class to demonstrate how to pronounce words.
I looked forward to that class daily! I regret not having kept in touch with her, as she started my love affair with all things French. Till this day I travel incessantly to Paris and think of her every time.
Your Mother/Grandmother/Friend etc, My Madame Kapsis will be terribly missed. She was an amazing woman, an excellent teacher and now a shining star in the sky.
My sincerest condolences to the whole family on the passing of both Mr Kapsis and Madame Kapsis.
Jusqu'à ce que nous rencontrons encore Madame Kapsis. <3
