My family and I were shocked to hear of Joann's passing. We know she is in good company watching down on her family. The heartache of one's passing never goes away but with each passing day we treasure the memories that we have of our loved one. Joann will be missed by all that knew her. My family and I will always remember the time we spent with Joann up north when she came to visit. Joann will truly be missed by me, her cousin, Sandy. Love ya Jo.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Joann was my best friend during our Peace Corps years. She was a diligent worker who showed such patience and understanding with our Honduran co-workers. We worked together on many projects including translations where she demonstrated over and over her fabulous linguistic skills. Last year, in May or June when we emailed, she was excited to learn I was coming to Guatemala to work and I know she would have come traveling again had cancer not struck her down at such an early age. I will miss my friend.
