I worked for John at UL. He was the best boss that I ever had. I've kept in touch with him since he retired and always call hime this time of year to ask him what time he wanted me to pick him up to take him to the UL 25 year club dinner, even after he made the move to the Denver area. He always said, well I won't put that online. I knew Helen also. She was a sweetheart and always had good gardening advice. Though he tried to be gruff, John was a good guy. I will miss him and our talks.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

John was my first manager at UL. While he was tough, he was always fair. He taught me a lot about safety certification business. I will always cherish my memories of that time. May God grant peace and comfort to his family.

I was moved to send my condolences as my father, George Pope, worked with John at UL. I recognized the name as I remember my dad talking about work over dinner and John's name being mentioned. My father died in 2001 but the UL connection along with Northwestern and the Navy gave a lot of people common experiences back in the day and the connection continues.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
