Marion Jencius Obituary

Marion Jencius, 93, of Chicago died on Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Presence-Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Thursday evening at Kolbus-John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins, Chicago, IL. Funeral services will at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Central Baptist Village, 4747 N. Canfield, Norridge, IL with visitation at 9:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, 301 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salvation Army (Norridge, IL), Misericordia (6300 N. Ridge Avenue, Chicago), Caris Pregnancy Center or donor's choice. Mrs. Marion Jencius was born August 14, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Marion O'Brien. Marion attended Falconer Grammar School, Foreman High School and Dominican (Rosary) College. Following graduation, Marion was employed as a librarian at Barat College in Lake Forest, IL, and Deering Library at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She also served as a Gray Lady at Hines-Loyola Hospital. Subsequently, Marion accepted a librarian position at Wright Junior College in Chicago, IL where she met her future husband, Frank Jencius; the two were married on July 9, 1949. Over the years, Marion was an active member in the Local School Council, Grammar School and High School PTA, Midwest Council PTA, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Senior Club at the Chicago 25th Police District, the Senior Club and Choir at St. Genevieve's Church, Lutheran Welfare Services and the Austin Special School for children. Most recently, Marion was an active member of Central Baptist Village's Chimers and Charmers Choirs, the Garden Club and the Creative Outlets Painting Group. Surviving are her sons, Thomas (Margaret) Jencius of South Beloit, IL and Martin (Aileen) Jencius of Kent, Ohio; daughter, Mary Frances (Jack) Clifton of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Simon (Victoria Ceh) Jencius, Morgan (Michele) Jencius, Lauren (Adam) Steger, Hannah Jencius and Will Jencius; and great grandchildren, Joshua Ceh, Kelly Ceh and Clark Jencius; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband (Frank); her dear sister-in-law Josephine; and several aunts and uncles. Marion was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed but is forever with her Savior. For information 773-774-3232 or www.kolbusmayfh.com
