Melvin M. Erickson, 97, of Park Ridge, died February 21, 2017, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. Born March 29, 1919 in Fillmore County, MN, near Henrytown, to Edward and Nora Erickson. He attended grade school in Henrytown and graduated from Canton High School. Melvin was united in marriage to Lucy M. Fisher on April 15, 1950. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lucy; children, Douglas (Chris), Kenneth, Brian (Heidi), Clayton (Sue), and Tom (Karin) Erickson; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances (Manley). Preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Walter, Hilman, Arnold, Roy, Hanford and Florence. Visitation Thursday, February 23, 3-8 p.m., at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy. (2 blks. S. of Touhy), Park Ridge. Funeral Service Friday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Private burial will follow in Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge. We are so sorry for your loss. We loved seeing Melvin tending to his beautiful lawn and the boys loved running to say hello to him whenever they could. He will be missed by so many.
