I am saddened by the too early passing of photojournalist Mike McCardle. I knew Mike from my freelance time in NWI. He was quiet, friendly, talented and a very good person I am saddest for his children whom he loved dearly. R.I.P. Mike.

Mike was a great friend, even though distance and time slipped away from us, every time we spoke it seemed as if we could pick up where we left off. Often it seems we don't know the value of someone until they're gone, then we realize how priceless they were. Mike leaves behind a wonderful wife and two beautiful boys, who God willing will grow up to be half the man Mike was. They have a great start.

not all photographers have it: the eye, the ability to see that nugget that drives a great photo. mike did. and that attention to detail bled into many other aspects of his life: as a cyclist, craft brewer and as a man. he saw things that others didn't, noticed things that others overlooked. he was proud of his family. but we were all proud of his work. i don't think he knew how good he was. gone too soon...
