Please accept my belated condolences, as I just learned of Peter's passing. I got to know Peter in the early 1980s when I was the religion editor at the Chicago Tribune and he was serving as a spokesman for Cardinal Cody, a job that included some interesting challenges. Peter handled those challenges with grace and a wry wit. May the memories of his life and faith be a steady source of consolation.

What a remarkable kind man. Wishing the family peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead, and loving memories to hold in your hearts.
I last saw Peter at my mother's funeral in 2013 in Elkhart, Indiana. What a thoughtful man to travel there to support his cousin's family.
Love,

I was on the board of directors when Peter was the Executive Director of the Calumet Area Industrial Commission and was always impressed by his grasp of the issues as well as the fact that he was a kind and gentle man. May he rest in peace.

Peter saw more in me than I saw in myself. I was truly blessed to have him as a friend for so many years. May he now rest in God's warm embrace for all of eternity. I'll miss you Peter.

Peter was a great man and mentor to us and all the Beverly Writers' Group. What an imagination!! He once wrote a magnificent essay about a Medieval-age war waged by parts of speech and punctuation marks--commas against semicolons; metaphors against similies. Someday we--and he--deserve to see it on the "big screen."
Spiritually, we have no doubt that Peter was whisked immediately through the Gates of Heaven by his namesake, St Peter himself. As we used to sing around Lake Michigan bonfires in the 50's:
Peter, if you get to Heaven before we do
Just poke a hole and pull us through.
