Law students learn the law in law school. But young lawyers at Pretzel, Stouffer, Nolan & Rooney learned how to practice law from Ralph E. Stouffer.
He carried more cases than anyone else, and still found the time to check the work of young associates and provide constructive criticism. He always respected the Court, his clients, and his opponents. He taught us to advocate vigorously and yet never be rude or disrespectful. He helped me 43 years ago and I'm still doing the things he taught me. Ralph Stouffer was a lawyer's lawyer and a true friend.

My deepest sympathy to the Stouffer family. I was fortunate to work with Mr. Stouffer from 1982 until his retirement in 1987. He was so kind to me and my family. While vacationing in Florida with my Mom, Mr. and Mrs. Stouffer insisted that we come spend time with them in St. Petersburg. We had a wonderful time with them.

Mr. Stouffer had such integrity, both as a person and a lawyer. During his tenure, it was a pleasure to work for him. He often reminded those of us in Admin to remember that the firm's money is not Monopoly money. He encouraged us to think twice before recommending a purchase. He taught us so much for which I am eternally grateful.

Rest in peace Mr. Stouffer and say hello to Mrs. Stouffer for me.

Please accept my sincere sympathy for a man who was a credit to the legal profession. I learned so much from him and his sense of humor will always be remembered. He hired me in 1961 and I worked for him for many years and will remember him fondly. God rest his soul.
