Thomas C. Hughes, 80 resident of Carpentersville for 20 yrs formally of Palatine. He was born in Chicago and passed away July 28 at Journey Care. Thomas was an army veteran and a former Executive Vice President of the Chicago Board of Realtors. Beloved husband of the late Violet E. nee. Plato (1998); loving father of Kelly T. Hughes (Kelley McDonald) and her daughter Katherine and the late Kimberly S. Hughes; cherished grandfather of Jessica, Cassandra and Jacob; great grandfather of Lilly; dear brother of Ernest (the late Ruth) Hughes, Lenora (the late Warren) Shamhart and Sandra (George) Kempinski. Tom was a true gentleman. He was kind, honorable and patient. He had the heartiest laugh of anyone I know. I wish his family my deepest condolences.
