Beverly McManus Obituary

BEVERLY JEAN MCMANUS The world lost a beautiful soul March 8, 2018. Beverly Jean McManus passed away after a sudden illness. Beverly's life was spent in quiet service. She loved her time working in the EOPS program at Butte College, Helping those in need, as well as supporting multiple charitable organizations that helped people and animals. Bev was born in Whittier, CA on April 24, 1943. She grew up with her loving parents, Ruth and Arnold Kaufman, and her siblings, Dolores and Arnie. After her father was transferred overseas, her adolescence was spent in Sumatra, Indonesia, where she swam with water moccasins, avoided tigers at "tiger time," and enjoyed a wonderful, unique experience bonding with the other American Children at Camp Rumbai. She returned to the States in 1955, where she spent her vivacious youth in Galveston Texas, and in Gilroy, California, where she graduated from Las Animas High School. She married Dennis McManus in November, 1966, becoming a beloved mother to her two daughters, Mary Kathleen Horton and Ann Louise Leidig. Bev is survived by her two daughters; Mary and Ann, Her grandson; Brandon, Her sons in law; Kirk and Dennis, her siblings; Dolores DeFrancesco and Arnold Kaufman, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Please contact her daughter Mary at 408-596-6505 or Ann at 530-520-2556 for the location.
