Martie was a teacher at Hooker Oak when I was hired in 1980. She was always kind and patient and had a great sense of humor, In April, she called me out of the blue and we talked 35 minutes. I was so glad for that last conversation with her. She was a gem!

I have many fond memories of Mrs. Chambless 3rd grade class at Hooker Oak; she was a great teacher. I enjoyed seeing her around town in the years since then, and the big hugs she would greet me with. She was lovingly strict as a teacher and saw the best in all her students. What an impact she left! She will be missed. Thoughts are with her family during this sad time.

Sending warm thoughts and prayers to all family members.

With her cheerful smile and positive manner, Martie was one of my favorite people. Whenever we saw each other, it was like meeting up with a long lost friend.
As a teacher, she was a role model to her peers. The children all loved her.
My
thoughts and prayers are with the family,
Alberta Simc
