It's been a few years since his passing but whenever I reminisce about my younger years and the Braves on WTBS, Rick always gave me comfort when he was on the mound. I so vividly remember Rick falling on top of San Diego Padres player Champ Summers to protect him from angry fans that were participating in a brawl at Fulton County Stadium in the 80's. That really blew me away that he was willing to sacrifice himself for the opposing teams player who could have been injured by some home turf fans! I sincerely hope the Camp family have found comfort and peace since his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and those who were close to him. Always a Brave! God bless you Rick.
Rick, what a wonderful friend you were to me. You did so much to help me. Will
always be grateful. Will never forget your
wonderful smile. You were my friend RIP
dear Rick. Wait there for me.

Mike, I am truly sad about Rick's passing. I often think of our childhoods together, and our little neighborhood that was our universe for what we thought was eternity. It turns out our youth was too short, and life was harder than we knew. We were family then; we are family now. I pray Rick's peace passes our understanding. In Christ is our hope.
I'm so sorry to hear about Rick. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I will always remember his smile and friendly personality.

To The Camp Family: My deepest sympathy goes out to your family. I remember back in the day watching Rick Camp pitch in Richmond, VA and then on to Atlanta, GA. He truly will be missed. Sorry for your loss and may god bless you during this difficult time.
Learned about Rick's passing through e-mail from a dear friend. I lived next to the Camp's when we were in grammar school in Trion, Georgia. We played pitch, basketball or football almost every day. Being the only girl in the neighborhood I had to be tough, because the Hills, the Camps, the Snows, the Bryants and the Weavers had all boys. Needless to say learning of this is a heart felt deep feeling of sorrow. To his son Ross, your dad was a fun guy, to Mike his brother, we have loved him through out the years. May God bless your family in this time of sorrow.
I remember going to school with you and Mike at Trion High. You will be missed...Pauline Calaway

Rick Camp - Trion's 'Favorite Son' put Trion on the map when he joined the Atlanta Braves in 1976. He pitched for the Braves until October 5, 1985. He will be missed. He was a "good ole country boy" raised to be respectful and appreciative of life. He returned to Trion on January 13, 2013 and spoke highly of many individuals and families from Trion that encouraged him along the way. I am proud to say Rick Camp was my friend and I will miss him.
"RC" - That's what I called you back in the day at WGC. You were the "Horse" for our team and a great, great player, teammate and person. You made us all proud when you were with the Atlanta Braves. My sympathy and prayers to your family.
Your family have my deepest sympathy.. May you find comfort in...Eccl.9:5

Rick showed up when my dad passed away in 1991 and was one of his pallbearers - for that I will always be grateful. You will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

My son, David Fuller, was a good friend of Rick's many years ago. He is in New Hampshire and sends his best wishes to the family. He loved Rick like a brother.
Rick, I was 13 years old when you hit that memorable home run. No one in my family could understand why I stayed up till 3 am (CT) to watch a not very good Braves team. That's how big a Braves fan I was and continue to be. Thank you for such a vivid baseball memory (one of the earliest I have of my 35+ years as a Braves fan) and for everything you gave to the team. Yours was one of the first pitching motions I mimicked in my back yard. R.I.P. Rick. Braves # 37 will always be yours.
Rick, i enjoyed knowing you at West Ga and later in real life...what a pitcher "The Best"
Randy Pate 74"
May the God of all comfort be with you.
I will never forget the "home run". Being a fan, I am heart heavy for one of our Braves Family. RIP Rick, my hat is off to you.
I remember Rick well. He did his best to improve a bad Braves team. I saw him pitch many times on cable in Kansas City with Ernie Johnson and Skip Caray doing the play by play. He seemed like a really good guy. Sorry to hear of his passing especially at the young age of 60.
You are a great friend, a great teammate and a great person. RIP. Our deepest sympathy to your family.
Ricky was always a good friend, starting in Trion Elementary and Little League. My sympathy to the Family. He will be remembered.
Rick, your home run was a great Braves and baseball memory for me. . . July 4, 1985, 3:35 am, Gary Carter of the Mets waving outfielders in. You crushed it. I knew it right away. R.I.P. and may God Bless.
Rest in peace my friend. My deepest sympathy to your family. You will be missed.
God Bless the family of Rick Camp during this difficult time. I will keep the Camp family in my prayers.
Rick was a good relief pitcher back when it was not easy being a fan of the Braves. That homer run against the Mets on July 4 was a great moment in Braves lore. He will be missed by Braves fans everywhere.
I remember watching you pitch in Atlanta when I was a young boy. You were one of my favorite players. See you later in Heaven.
I know there will be many to sigh, but I have long been a Braves fan and have many fond memories of Rick. I WAS waching his home run and will never forget him. RIP Rick.
I'll always remember Rick's easygoing manner off the field and his competitive spirit on the mound. To echo the words of Shoeless Joe to Moonlight Graham in the movie "Field of Dreams", "You were good, kid." We shared a love of the game of baseball, and talked about the bumps in the road of life....rest in peace, my friend, you will be surely missed.
We love you Rick. Mike, Tammye and Seth
We love you Rick and will miss you, but will always be in our hearts. Mike, Tammye & Seth.
Im so sorry for your loss and may you find comfort in Gods inspired word the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16).
It was with deep regret that I learned of the passing of Rick Camp. What a memory he leaves behind,of hitting his only career home run off Tom Gorman on July 4th 1985 to tie the game. That was surely one for the books. May he rest in peace. Joan and Dominick Prendergast, Readville, Mass.
