John Hogans Obituary

Mr. John Dallas Hogans, (J.D.) of Bonifay, passed away Oct. 2 in the Doctors Memorial Hospital, Bonifay. He was a native of Walton County, Red Bay. Resided in Holmes County most of his life. He was of the Methodist Faith, retired from Arnolds Lumber Company, Caryville, after more than 40 years. Always a lover of outdoors, he spent his senior years gardening and tending his beloved cows. His favorite past time was fishing. A sunny beautiful day always entitled him to catch a few.
J.D. leaves to cherish warm and loving memories a loving and devoted wife of more than 64 years, Lena Ponds Hogans; five beloved children, Michaelle Hogans, Melinda Johnson (Jeffery) all of Bonifay, Mabelline McCray (Sidney) of Miami, John D. Hogans, Jr. (Minnie) of Graceville, and Norris Hogans (jean) of Lexington Ky.; four sisters, Clestine Nettles, Ethel Wilson, Ona Barnes, and Bonnie Fizer (green); three brother, James Hogans, Jr., Clinton Hogans (Mary), and Samuel Hogans all of Milwaukee, Wis.; godson , Wilbert White; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31 in the Bonifay Cemetery with the Rev. R.E. Hudson, the Rev. Andrew Davis and Elder Kelvin Johnson, officiating, the Cooper Funeral Home directing.
