Kurt truly was a wonderful person. I met Kurt as a teen and his good character always stood out. To all his family, loved ones and so many great friends, Donna and I send our best and our condolence to all. He truly was a great friend to so many, a father, a husband, a son, a best man, etcetera. How lucky we were, the ones that got to meet him. In a Galaxy, far, far away, I am sure he has found great peace and happiness and carries all the love and great memories for his wife, his children, his family, and friends.John, our thought's are with you. You were lucky, to have had such a great friend, as he was too.

To the Martell's:
My deepest sympathies to your family for such a tragic loss. Kurt was such a caring, welcoming, friend to so many. I can see his infectious smile now. You must be so proud of him for what a wonderful person he became. My heart goes out to you all, his wife and beautiful children.

Meeting Kurt with Eleanor Drury children's theatre, was a prevlidge. The youth were engaged with him. We parents loved him and Sarah. The encouragement , knowledge and love of theatre given to the young actors was wonderful to observe. Laughter was bountiful during the excillerating work of a production. Kurt wrote a wonderful play for the group that made me laugh so hard I cried. The kids loved acting this unique show. My children Jarvis and Noelle spoke of their adult encounters with Kurt and Sarah-all positive. How nice these peeps are. Every time I met Kurt was like meeting an old friend. A quick catch up till next time. Always a good laff and smiles. I thank Kurt for his being such a positive sharing person. His life impact was felt in my family. You will be missed. Donna.

I'll never forget your infectious smile, crazy laugh, love of filmmaking (especially acting, special effects and all things zombie) and how you always looked out everyone. It's hard to believe someone so full of life and with so much to live for is no longer with us.

Given how close we all were in college and later in Toronto, it feels as though I've lost a brother, not just a friend, classmate and colleague.

Since learning of your passing I've been reflecting on the good times: enjoying Raptors games together, remembering how proud we all were of you when we saw you perform at Second City, film shoots, house parties, that time you made Shannon think she won the lottery, how you nicknamed me 'Rippleman' after spell-check changed my last name to 'ripple' that one time, etc.

Though we fell out of touch after you moved back to Thunder Bay, you and the rest of the Class of '99 were never far from my thoughts.

We had a lot of great times together. I wish we could have had more. It was an honour to have known you. Your family must be proud of what a wonderful human being you turned out to be and how much life you lived in those short years.

I love and am going to miss you, buddy.
