Anthony Blose Obituary

Anthony Philip Blose, 82, died May 21, 2014, at HPH Hospice in Brooksville, Florida. Mr. Blose was born May 9, 1932, in Yonkers, New York, to Anthony and Philomena (Bove) Blose. He was their first child. He attended Gorton High School in Yonkers, New York. He continued his education at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York, graduating in 1954 with a degree in business administration. He was a star athlete in both high school and college, playing varsity baseball and basketball. He also played minor league baseball in New England during his college summers. After graduating college, Mr. Blose married his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Maddalo, and entered the U.S. Army. His new bride joined him during his 18-month deployment to Germany, where their son Anthony was born. After leaving the Army, Mr. Blose began a 34-year career with the phone company, working for N.Y. Telephone, NYNEX, and Verizon. He retired as an assistant vice president of Verizon in 1991. During his retirement years, he and his wife divided their time between homes in Woodloch Springs Country Club in Hawley, Pennsylvania, and Southern Woods Country Club in Homosassa, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Blose enjoyed 60 years of married life together, and were blessed with three daughters after the birth of their son, Janet, Theresa, and Elizabeth. He and his wife were both avid golfers, playing courses in all 50 states as well as in Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and Mexico.
He is survived by his loving wife; four children; and nine grandchildren. He leaves two brothers, Philip and Robert; and his sister, Barbara Spear.
Arrangements were with Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. Burial took place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
