Jackson Straub Obituary

Jackson L. "Jake" Straub III, MD, son of Jackson L. Straub II and Anna Mary (Charles) Straub died suddenly on Sunday, August 24, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Roseann (Valent) Straub; and was the very proud father of their only son, Timothy Charles Straub; a brother, Christopher C. Straub, Esq., his wife Erika and their three children Kyle S. Straub, Cody B. Straub, and Madison Q. Straub; as well as a sister, Pamela (Straub) Hershey and her daughter Molly (Hershey) Arista and their two children Franklin and Louise.
Jake was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and graduated from McCaskey High School. He earned a four-year degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey and then went on to Medical School. He graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, receiving his Medical Degree (M.D.). He completed a four-year residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University of Florida, Shands and VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida before moving to Inverness. He functioned on the medical staff as a Diagnostic Radiologist at Citrus Memorial Hospital for 25 years before retiring to spend time with his family. He enjoyed several years of exploring his creative talent in oil, chalk, and ink drawing and painting. He loved Gator sports and enjoyed a family meal every Sunday with his mother-in-law, Rose Valent of Floral City.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made instead to American Heart Association on his behalf. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sad to hear of Jake's passing. Although we haven't been in touch for many years I went to school with Jake both at Lancaster Township Jr High and, later, McCaskey High School. My prayers are with your family in your time of loss.

I never knew Jake as a doctor as we were fraternity brothers at Rutgers in the late 60's. I never would have guessed that Jake would pursue medicine just as I am certain he was shocked I pursued law enforcement. Truly a Great Guy and Roseann, I am sure I speak for all at NuBeta Fiji our heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

To the love of my life...I 've loved you from the moment we met and will love you forever. You may be gone from our lives but will never be forgotten by your adoring son and your "beautyberry". You were my best friend, loving husband, and incredible father to our son and have left us all too early.
