BALLARD

Patti D. (nee Davis), age 73, of Oakwood passed away, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. Born August 15, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH, Patti graduated from Seven Hills Academy. Patti attended Pine Manor College in Massachusetts and the University of Cincinnati. She was a successful business woman, working for the Cincinnati Symphony, during which time she had the opportunity to travel all over the world. Patti was co-owner of Servati's Bakery (now Ashley's Bakery in Oakwood). She was the first to carry Graeter's Ice Cream in Dayton. Patti later started a business called International Countertrade in which she bartered products with other countries and became an expert and national speaker in the field. Patti's true love was her volunteerism in many local charities and organizations, which among others included the Junior League, Dayton Children's Hospital, The Little Exchange, Dayton Art Institute, and 100 Women Strong. She organized major events such as Dayton Riverfest, Cha-Cha, and St. Paul's Capital Campaign, Every Member Canvas, and Rummage Sale. Patti was also a long time member of Dayton Country Club. A fabulous cook, she was famous for her parties and loved spending time with friends and family. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Dorothy Davis, and husband, Charles "Chuck" Ballard, Jr., to whom she was married for 39 years. Patti is survived by her daughters, Brittany L. Ballard and Tracey B. (Travis) Tangeman; granddaughter, Bryn Elizabeth; god-daughter, Susan Simrall (Rob) Regan and their three children, Davis, Patrick and Eleanor; cousin, Judy (Earl F.) Pritchard and their two sons, David and Scott; and her many loving friends whom she thought of as family. The family will greet friends on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, OH. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood, OH. Dear Brittany, Tracey and Family,
Your mother lit up every room she walked into and her love of life was so contagious! Just a few short years ago we were boating and playing basketball at Lake Chautauqua together... her energy was endless! We will cherish all the laughter and great times we shared and we were so blessed to have known her. Our prayers are with all of you.

I am saddened by the loss of Patty, a dear friend of my parents, Tom and Marianne Becker. I will always remember her warmth and grace and genuine attitude toward anyone she encountered. We all admired and respected Patty and the fond memories with Patty and Chuck often in Keeneland will not be forgotten. Dianne Becker

Brittany, Tracey and family,
When I think of your mother, I think of her energy, grace and intelligence. At lunch with her in March, she quoted John Kennedy, "for of those to whom much is given, much is required". Of course, this is how she lived her life, giving back in so many ways. She will be truly missed by many.

Hi Brittany, Tracey, Travis,

Hard to believe Hugs & Chuckles both gone but at least they are together again at last. What a couple!! Fond memories from playing with your Cuz Bill on Wisteria, to visits to their apartment in DC and so many more shared expereinces and friendships. I think you guys have the kind of parents that you feel lucky to know let alone be related to.

Love -- Bob Stav.

dearest Brit and Tracy,
As you know your mom was a second mom to me. Both Tony and I have so many warm special memories of holidays with your family.... My love for your mom is deeper and bigger than words can express. My children Meg, Amy and Douglas all have been so sadden by the news of your mom's passing... I love you both. You both have her fire, amazing grace and dignity. I am 100% sure you both will carry on her legacy.... The one she paved so eloquently in not only Dayton but in Cincinnati. Whatever she did she did it like no other..... Patti and Chuck were one of the nicest couples I had the opportunity to paint for. There is not a time I don't pass their home that I am not swept over with the fondest of memories.(That Little Ole' Painter) Kent Shelley
