I was just watching a DVD of the first season of A Different World and noticed in the credits the name Maynard C. Virgil, Stage Manager. This stood out to me because my last name is also Virgil. The other thing that caught my attention was the fact that his name was Maynard and my oldest brother went by his middle name Raynard (he passed in June 22, 2006 also at the age of 59 of a heart attack). When I googled Maynard C. Virgil, it immediately saddened me to see the words obituary. I could so relate to the words of his sister being in disbelief of his passing. I never say I know what anyone else is or has gone through, but for me the loss of my brother was a hurt I never anticipated.

Though I never knew Maynard, my prayers go out to his family and all that loved him. I still grieve my brother and the only comfort I can find is through God's Spirit. So I pray that His Spirit has and will continue to give comfort to Maynard's family as well.

Because my parents taught us that we do live again, I won't say R.I.P., but I will say that I pray that Maynard he will Live In Peace.

I'm sorry to say that i just found out about my friend Maynard today. Not only was he responsible for my surviving in Los Angeles during the mid 90's, most of my work on TV came directly through Maynard, i wasn't with central or any other casting he would call me if he need me and allowed me to call him when i needed work. Maynard had a big heart in fact a few times when i became a single parent with 2 child Maynard let me have my children with me all day on the set so i could continue to earn a living. Also later Maynard let participate in his acting class for free until i could afford it. TRUE STORY!!!

R.I.P and Thanks for everything with LOVE and Sadness Voice Rogers

This brother gave my first television job on "It's a Different World." My career has spanned over the last 2 and a half decades. He believed in me and took a chance and I'll be forever grateful.

I just found out today that Maynard passed in July...I met Maynard C. Virgil at the Ms. Black America Pageant in Gary, Indiana many years ago. He was directing the recording of the pageant for TV. We kept in touch off & on over the years. It was evident that he loved what he did and was a creative talent. I followed his career and he even assited me with mine at one point. The last time we spoke was some time ago but Maynard always remained a special friend to me. I will remember him fondly. He was a good friend and he had many friends. He was a great person and had a lot of class! I extend my condolences to his family and friends. May your memories bring you some comfort at any time you think of him...keeping you all in my prayers.

We both started our lives in a home at 3955 Zinsle ave Cincinnati, Ohio. The cousin I never got to meet in person. What an awesome success cousin Maynard is to me and One of the top 5 people in my life that Ive ever wanted to meet. Though I was not close to him, in many aspects I was closer than ever. I grew up in his childhood home sold to my parents by my mothers aunt, his mother. His last words to me via mobile phone conversation on a greyhound on the way back from Los Angeles in March 2011 were..." Everybody in Hollywood is needs a job." My job at the time was looking for him. My tribute to him will be to Get a job! Maybe in L.A. someday.

I met Maynard on a blind date. I said this will never work. That was in 1979. We said "I DO" to me in June 16,1990. He was a loving man and a wondreful father to both of our chidren. That was many years for us to share and grow to know one another. After Maynard became my former husband God allowed us to become best friends and what a friend he was. I'll be missing you Virg.

I met Maynard Virgil after auditioning at Hollywood Pop Academy. I was very young then. Upon enrolling at HPA, I was able to learn from Maynard in classes. The knowledge and wisdom he conveyed never ceased to enlighten me about the arts. I was honored to have Maynard as an acting manager. I even remember Maynard coaching me over the phone for an audition I had. Maynard dedicated a great amount of his time to foster my development as an actor and performer. For this, I am eternally grateful. He was such a kind and sincere man. My family and I were shocked to hear of his passing. We truly will miss Maynard. We will never forget him. We offer our most sincere condolences to his family and many friends. God bless you Maynard.

I knew Maynard in Jr and Sr high. He was one of the nicest young men I have known in my 58 years. My heart and prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace.
