Stephen HOGG Obituary

HOGG

Stephen P. M.D., age 92, passed away July 26, 2013 in Bonita Springs, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Carldean "Carla" Taylor Hogg, his sister Elizabeth Ann Hogg, and his first son and namesake, Stephen P. Hogg III.

He was a devoted family man.

Loved by many, it is appropriate that he was born on Valentine's Day to Walter Scott Hogg and Jessie Stacy Hogg (Bailey)) of Jackson Kentucky.

He graduated from the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville College of Medicine. Raised in Jackson, Kentucky he went north to practice medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served as an ENT in private practice and at many area hospitals. His skill and compassion changed many lives, from making house calls to performing life changing microscopic inner ear surgeries that restored hearing to many patients in Cincinnati and Eastern Kentucky.

He enjoyed serving as President of the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine. He served as both moderator and participant of several "Call the Doctor" shows, which aired on local television.

He served in the United States Navy as a Physician in both World War II and the Korean War.

Cherished father of Robert Scott Hogg (Nancy), Susan Lynn Hogg Wake, James Walter Hogg, Henry William Hogg, Ellen Elizabeth Zieha (Glennon). Loving grandchildren are Jessica Leslie (Chad), Erica Root (Robert), Christine Budzik (Jason), Ellen Wake, Alexander Zieha, Kimberyly Hogg, and Abigail Hogg. And four great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Stammers, Felix Leslie, Aiden Root and Arlo Leslie. He is also survived by three nieces, a nephew and a great nephew.

Dr. Hogg was a long-time resident of Hyde Park until his retirement and relocation to Florida. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, sculpting and the arts.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 14, 2013 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

If desired, donations can be made to the HEARING, SPEECH and DEAF CENTER OF GREATER CINCINNATI, to the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
