Ormond Beach, FL - Edna Marie Harrison Oteri, 78, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 20th in Brevard, NC at Transylvania Regional Hospital. She had been a resident of Tore's Home in Brevard, NC for the last year.
Edna was born in Morganton, NC to Ernest Ervin Harrison and Bertha Lingafeldt Harrison on November 20, 1935. She attended Oak Hill Schools in Morganton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Leo Thomas Oteri of Brooklyn, NY; brothers Charles Harrison, Manley Harrison, and Bill Harrison; and sisters Maggie Cook, Lucille Walker and Mary Warlick.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Dee Dee Perkins and husband, Jimmy of Brevard, NC; her son Michael Oteri, of Ormond Beach, FL; her sister Sue Harvey of Houston, TX, and brother Richard Harrison of Martinsville, VA; and 19 nieces and nephews. Her three grandchildren, Adam and Allie Perkins of Brevard, and Logan Oteri of Ormond Beach, FL will treasure their memories of 'Granny'.
Edna moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1956, where she spent most of her life. She was employed as a waitress and server until her retirement. She co-owned a restaurant in Daytona Beach called The Golden Palms in the 1960's. She and her family lived in Shelby, NC from 1967 to 1981, when they moved to Ormond Beach, Florida. She worked at Captain Cody's and Park's Seafood until her retirement in 2000.
Edna was involved as a volunteer in her local Democratic Party organization. She attended Democratic National Party Conventions in Chicago, Denver and New York as well Presidential Inaugurations in Washington, DC.
She loved sewing and arts and crafts, and cultivated that into a part-time business. Edna was a feisty woman with a deep passion for her family, friends, the beach, and life in general. A devoted mother, loyal friend and sister, she was known for her hearty laugh, quick-witted sense of humor and generous heart.
She believed in helping those less fortunate and taught those values to all who came to know her by words and examples.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Warlick, Terry Cook, Kevin Cook, Travis Cook, Neill Fuleihan, Lou Vitelli, Adam Perkins and Logan Oteri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Edna Harrison Oteri to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org) the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity.
The family of Edna Harrison Oteri wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Tore's Home #7 of Brevard, NC and the Transylvania Regional Hospital staff.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 22nd at 3p.m. at the English Chapel in Pisgah National Forest at the Davidson River Campground. Family visitation and reception will follow the service at the home of Dee Dee and Jimmy Perkins.

I MEET EDNA WHEN WE WORKED AT THE BEACHCOMER. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALOT OF PEOPLE.SHE WAS A GOOD PERSON AND A GOOD FRIEND. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY.
