I just heard the news and I cannot believe this is real....I cared very much for this man, as a friend and as a fellow researcher. He was truly gifted......and NO ONE has ever made me laugh so much this one did.....we had some good fun together....I feel special just for having that opportunity to have been his friend.....

Don, you were a good friend and a wonderful colleague. I'll never forget our many enjoyable and interesting conversations. I'll see what I can do to make the last project we discussed at a reality. I might even take a stab at making those fluorescent green, genetically engineered mini-sharks at some point. Rest in peace my friend. I still have the equine project prototype that we built. I'll see if I can make that one work, too. I will miss you, my friend.

So sorry that you are gone..not forgotten by any means. You were one of my first friends here and helped me so much. I hope that you are pain-free and at peace.

Don, you were a great person and a hell of a lodge brother. We shared many good times both in and out of Frederick Elks Lodge 684. This is for you my brother, my friend.

"You have heard the tolling of eleven strokes. This is to remind us that with Elks the hour of eleven has a tender significance. Wherever an Elk may roam, Whatever his lot in life may be, when this hour falls upon the dial of night the great heart of Elkdom swells and throbs. It is the golden hour of recollection, the homecoming of those who wander, the mystic roll call of those who will come no more. Living or dead, an Elk is never forgotten, never forsaken. Morning and noon may pass him by, the light of day sink heedlessly in the West, but ere the shadows of midnight shall fall, the chimes of memory will be pealing forth the friendly message -- "TO OUR ABSENT MEMBERS"
