When a tragedy strikes so close to home, the border between Canada and the United States becomes an imaginary line. You are not alone. We are united. Your pain is our pain. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who lost a life and to the families of the victims. May God Bless them. And may God Bless the rescue workers and their families and the President of the United States and his family during this very difficult time. God Bless America.

IT IS HARD TO PUT INTO WORDS THE PAIN AND SORROW FELT FROM THE PAST WEEKS EVENTS. EVERY LIFE LOST WAS PRECIOUS, EVERY PERSON LOST HAS A FAMILY FEELING GREAT PAIN. MAY GOD GUIDE US THROUGH ONE OF THE MOST TRYING TIMES IN OUR LIVES AND COMFORT THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES. MAY OUR COUNTRY STAND TOGETHER WITH LOVE AND HONOR NOW AND ALWAYS.

“Don’t forget to remember.” Those were the very same words I spoke to my son less than a month ago as my husband and I took him back to college. Ironically, those are the very same words I would say to all humankind. We must not forget to remember those lost in this barbaric attack; we must not forget to remember the families shattered by this tragic event and the emotional scars that will last forever; remember those who so heroically gave their lives to save others; remember our pain, grief and anger, not just individually, but as a nation; remember how we feel now when we look at each other. For once we’re all on the same page. Remember to pray, pray, pray! I have heard that at times of great despair we should say “thank you God” -- thank you because we KNOW our faith is strong enough to see us through. Finally, remember that, for better or worse, this is OUR country. I have never considered myself to be particularly patriotic, but the events of 9-11-01 have left an indelible mark on my soul; have left me feeling violated in a way I can’t express, but, bottom line, this is my home and I am proud to be a New Yorker. I am proud to be an American.
