Mrs. Campbell and Erica,
I worked with Jim for 5 1/2 years with the Topeka Fire Department and knew him as a man of honor and integrity; he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family at this time of sorrow. It was a very sad day for me when I learned of Chief Jim's passing. He was an amazing man who had my greatest respect. I will always remember his laugh, smile and his little pranks and jokes. I will always remember him as a mentor and supervisor during my time as a 911 dispatcher and member of the fire department. My fondest memory is of a time I locked the keys to my investigator vehicle in the trunk. A quick call to Chief Jim and I soon had the trunk open and a few days later a piece of rope ended up on my desk, so that I could keep track of my keys. He will always be remembered as one of the best supervisors I've ever had. It was an honor to know him. God bless you all and he will be with you forever.

To the Campbell,

First met Jim many years ago while working with the Major Case Squad. A soft spoken man, but always made his point. He knew a lot about what went on in Topeka and the surrounding Counties and was a good adviser to a young law enforcement officer beginning his career.I will miss his friendship. It was nice to see and speak with him approximately 4 weeks ago at the Sam's club. My condolence to the family.
