Jeffrey Drew Springer Jeffrey Drew Springer, 66, Topeka, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013. Jeff was born June 17, 1946, in Queens, New York, the son of Elias and Frances Bowles Springer. In 1965, Jeff and Suzanne Crisp were married. He received his Bachelor degree in physical education from Emporia State University. Jeff served our country in the US Army in Vietnam. He taught PE in Moline and Severy, Kansas elementary schools and then in various schools in USD 501. He was a longtime Boy Scout leader of Troop 10 in Topeka. He was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and an Eagle Scout whose son and three grandsons also achieved that rank. Jeff was also a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. His family was most important in his life and he also enjoyed teaching, coaching, Boy Scouts of America and woodcarving. Jeff s family is so proud of him for his service to our country and for the caring and giving person that he was who loved everyone and always reached out to the less fortunate, those in need, and made a difference in their lives. Jeff was a member of University United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Suzy Springer of the home; son, Mike Springer (Tami), Collinsville IL; and daughter, Stacey Bailey (Quinten), Topeka; grandchildren, Sarah Wilson (Brandon), Andrew Springer, of Collinsville, and Tanner Bailey, Randy Bailey and Peri Bailey, all of Topeka; his mother, Fran Springer; brothers, Craig Springer (Patricia), and Tim Springer, all of Bradenton FL; and a sister, Jacquie Trevino (Tony), Ottawa Lake MI. Jeff was preceded in death by his father. Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at University United Methodist Church, 1621 SW College Avenue, Topeka KS 66604. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeff s name to the Jayhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, for camping scholarships, sent to 1020 SE Monroe, Topeka KS 66612, or in care of the funeral home. Jeff was my scout master I always remembered him like no other. He pushed me to get my Eagle Scout and i am so thank ful for that.jeff u will always be in my memory you like the dad I never had love you so very much!!!!!

Karen, David, and I are saddened by Jeff's passing. Those years of scouting are a permanent part of all our lives as are our memories of Jeff's role in creating such a wonderful experience. Our sincere condolences to Suzy and the entire family.

Jeff was my gym teacher at French Middle school, then I ran into him again at the VA. Always had a kind word and talked to me, Suzy sorry for your loss he was a good man.
