It's a sad day for the Cardinal Nation, and the city of St. Louis, and baseball fans everywhere. One of the handful of greatest players to ever play this game, and a true gentleman and class act his whole life. The Cardinal family will never be quite the same.

My boyhood idol and the most humble and classiest human being in my lifetime. I will never forget sitting in the left field bleachers during Stan's last game wishing I could get his autograph on my scorecard. Twenty seven years later I was fortunate to get his autograph on that very scorecard. Heaven's baseball team just got one heckuva hitter.

A sad day for Cardinal Nation and ALL of baseball. RIP Mr. Musial

The first baseball game I can remember was Stan's last game, and only because my Dad was so choked up over it. I think Stan came out after his last at bat. A double? Dad did not want us to see him get emotional. Years later, I would meet many more boys born in and around St. Louis in the 50's and early 60's, and it surprised me how many STAN's I met. Did not surprise me at all when Stan Javier broke into the big leaugues. Stan Musial was the kind of man you'd hope your son would grow up to be like -- all baseball aside. God bless all the Stans and Musiuals everywhere -- Paul Wiesler (born in St. Louis in 1958)

To Mr Musial's Family,

My condolences to all of you at this time of great loss. I had the great honor to meet Mr. Musial on a few occasions, each with Dr. Marty Schwarze. He is a delightful man, very pleasant and easy to converse and a great harmonica player!

I know a few family members and I want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sincerely,

He was a gentle man! Thank you for being a great ambassador for the game of baseball. You will be missed. Rest in peace.
