NEW TAZEWELL — Mary Elizabeth Howard, of New Tazewell, Tennessee went home to be with our Lord on Friday August 17, 2018. She was born in Alva, Kentucky July 26, 1931. She taught school at Black Star High School in Harlan County, Kentucky and also taught in the Pineville, Kentucky school system. She retired after 30 years as a para legal supervisor, in the civil service division at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.
She and her husband Andrew Doug Howard were high school sweethearts and were married 61 years. Mary was preceded in death by parents John C. and Donnah Martin, brother John C. Martin Jr.
She is survived by husband Andrew Doug Howard, sister Marty Kamrani, and nieces and nephew, her sister-in-law Evelyn Walters, Sarah Jeppson, and Nancy Grable, her best friends Elaine Stovall, Jeff Stovall and Vicky Stovall.
The Family expresses their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Claiborne county Medical Center, especially the CCU personnel, most of all Mary loved her family and friends. The visitation will be Monday, August 20, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in New Tazewell.
The funeral service for Mary will follow at 7:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hensley Cemetery in Smith Kentucky. Ministers: Rev. Ronnie Oplinger; Singer: Ginny Brooke Finney; Pallbearers: Don Brooks, Don Chemelewski, Charlie Gibson Jesse Gibson, Jeff Stouall, Phil Grable. Andy. we just learned of May"s passing and we are heartbroken. You were our neighbors in Rolling Hills for years and we enjoyed both of you, I was so glad to get to visit with you and Mary Last year.. Our prayer are with you at this difficult time.

Mary "Lib" was always friendly and smiling and it was a joy to be in her presence. We certainly benefitted from her example and we need more like her in our lives.
