Guy Robertson
Madison
Guy Marvin Robertson left a legacy of hard work and good humor when he departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the age of 83. He was a warrior to the end, surrounded by family and holding hands with his sister when he took his last breath in Madison, Mississippi. He was a husband, gardener, electrician and baseball coach. He was called "Daddy", "Granddaddy" and "Pa Paw." He knew few strangers. He always hustled. He loved to laugh.
Guy was born January 23, 1930 in Carroll County, Mississippi to the late Lee Vardaman and Mamie (Acy) Robertson. His wife of forty-nine (49) years, Joyce Robertson, survives him. He left three sons, Scotty Robertson of Orlando, Florida, Keith Robertson of Tupelo and Craig Robertson of Madison. He took incredible pride in his eleven (11) grandchildren and seven (7) great-grandchildren. He leaves behind brothers, L.V. Robertson Jr. of Greenwood and Albert Robertson of Brandon, and sisters, Arcola Elliott of West Point and Loretta Acy of Coila.
He was reunited in heaven with his sons, Mike Robertson and James McNaughton, and daughter, Dianne Choate. He is also drinking sweet tea and walking through God's gardens with his brother, Lee Lawson "Bud" Robertson, and sister, Juanita Robertson Daves. He lived selflessly with unconditional love, poise and grace. He gave until he had nothing left but his smile and the twinkle in his hazel eyes.
Guy was an enlisted member of the United States Navy and served his country in the Korean War. He worked most of his life as an IBEW Local 480 master electrician and was a long time member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in South Jackson and later Pinelake Church in Brandon. He treasured the cabin in Carroll County he built with his sons and many friends. He got excited about crappie fishing, dove hunting and dirt bikes. He walked with Jesus. He was a regular volunteer. He was a man's man.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral home located at 1161 Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, Mississippi from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013.
