Mary Bernice Miller
Jackson, MS
Mary Bernice Miller, affectionately known as 'Mae Mae', was born April 12, 1960 in Jackson to Ben and Robbie Miller. Both preceded her in death, so all now await the second coming.
Mary passed at home peacefully in her sleep on July 3, 2014.
She has one sister, Stephania McMullen Byrd and one nephew, Isaac K. Byrd, III, who she loved like her own son.
Her early education included Holy Ghost Catholic School and then went on to graduate from Hardy Middle School and Provine High School in Jackson. Ever the scholar, she received her undergraduate degree from Jackson State and masters in business administration from Belhaven College.
She was an early riser each day; most recently you would find her at River Oaks Hospital in the accounting department. During her career, she also worked at AT&T and NOW Communications.
Our Mary accepted Christ at an early age at New Mount Zion Baptist Church and most recently joined Anderson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
Mary had a great affinity for football and her JSU Tigers and most any fall game day you could find her in the stadium with pom-poms twirling in frenzy. Mary, like most avid fans, went rain or shine and was never deterred by naysayers. If there was a defeat she just echoed, 'just watch those Tigers the next time around'.
Being civic minded, Eastern Star, Mary belonged to the Grand Hiram Grand Lodge and always participated in the Breast Cancer Walk.
Her cheery disposition and sunshiny smile will be missed by all. Her 'can-do' attitude inspired many; her great sense of humor will bring a chuckle long after this day.
Rest now, until we meet again on that cloud, ascending to heaven.

Ms. Mary, I can only cherish the memories of our last two encounters- at Kroger and Belk. I enjoyed joking around with you at AT&T and will keep those memories close to my heart as well. May God wrap his loving, comforting arms around your family as they embark upon a lifelong journey with your sweet, sweet spirit . Missing you already!

My Dearest Mary:
Even though we were no longer together, I will always respect the fact that you were good to my daughter. You were excellent with children. You were a kind, gentle soul with a big heart.
I wish I could be there; but circumstances does not permit me to at this time.
May you rest in God's perfect peace.
