ERIC GROSSMYER Obituary

GROSSMYER ERIC M. GROSSMYER, 44, passed away on June 16, 2016 after a short battle with lung and brain cancer. Eric was born on December 8, 1971 and grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio where he was active on the high school swim team and was proud to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Upon graduation from high school, Eric enrolled in the United States Air Force where he served proudly for eight years. After serving in the Air Force, he returned home to northeastern Ohio where he worked for the Swagelok Company in Solon for the last 16 years. He was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye fan and loved all Cleveland sport teams. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was active in the northeast Ohio geocaching community for many years. Eric is survived by his wife, Maureen; his mother, Arlene Stoltz (Jim); his brothers and sisters, Megan McMahon (Hugh), Adam, Donald Jr. (Kathy), Patricia Klembara (Timothy) and Christine; seventeen nieces and nephews; and a large and loving group of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Sr.; and his grandparents, George and Roberta Susanek and Carl and Angelina Grossmyer. A memorial service to celebrate Eric's short yet wonderful life will be held on Saturday, July 9 at FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 W. AURORA RD. (ST. RT. 82), SAGAMORE HILLS at 1 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to call for a MEMORIAL VISITATION 12 NOON UNTIL TIME OF SERVICES. Everyone is invited to attend a luncheon at the funeral home immediately following the conclusion of services. In honor of Eric's love of the Buckeyes and Cleveland sports, we invite everyone to wear their "team gear" to the memorial as we know it would make Eric smile. Wear your favorite team tee shirt, jersey, hat, etc. and show some O-H-I-O pride. Contributions in Eric's memory may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation at www.lungevity.org/donate. www.ferfolia .com
