NORTON ESTHER JAYNE NORTON Funeral services for Esther "Jayne" Norton, 88, formerly of Findlay, OH will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 109 East Lincoln St., Findlay, OH, with the Reverend Brent Gibson, performing the service and Reverend Robert (Bob) Cochran co-officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. VISITATION WILL BE HELD FROM 2 - 4 AND 6 - 8 P.M., WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2013, AT THE KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 LIMA AVE., FINDLAY, OH. Jayne died after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Laurels of Defiance, Defiance, OH, where she had resided since January 4, 2008. She was born in Findlay, OH on May 10, 1924, to George Washington Hosler and Regina "Grace" (nee Kieffer) Hosler. On April 28, 1943, she married the life-long love of her life, Francis Delois Norton in Aiken, SC. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2007. Surviving are two daughters, Merry Anne Hilty (Paul) Walton Hills, OH, and Patricia Jayne Fisher (Scott), Defiance, OH; five grandchildren, Tanya Leigh Hilty, Kettering, OH, David Norton Hilty (wife, Kimberly), Cuyahoga Falls, Gregory Scott Fisher (wife, Crystal) Decatur, IN, Christopher David Fisher (wife, Sarah), Columbus, OH, Jonathan Paul Fisher, Napoleon, OH and two great-grand-children, Maddox Arthur Norton Hilty and Emily Fisher. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Dorothy Whitehead, Pearl Herbster, Wilmetta "Billie" McDowell, and two brothers, R. Ben Hosler and John W. Hosler. Jayne worked as a long distance operator for Bell Telephone Company, a secretary at Buckeye Traction Ditcher Co., Kodak as a "slitter" with her mother and Lucille Barnhart, as teacher at the MRDD school, housed in the basement of Howard Methodist Church on Cherry St. She retired from Findlay City Schools, in 1983, where she worked as a classroom aid and secretary. She and her husband, Francis traveled on all seven continents. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years, active as a Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher, Junior and Senior Luther League advisor, a counselor at Lakeside, in womens circles at the church and an active member of the Luther Club, serving on many committees. She was also a former member of the Child Study Group of C.C.L., Square Dance and Dinner Clubs and a member of the Findlay Country Club.
