GERALDINE SHARPE

1936 - 2015

SHARPE GERALDINE SHARPE (Lowe) was born to Mary Prewitt and William Lowe on December 20, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio. From the time Geraldine was born she had a strong personality and spunk. Geraldine attended Cleveland Public Schools for the duration of her education. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1955. Upon graduating from high school, Geraldine entered the work force and secured her first job for the City of Cleveland in the purchasing department. In 1959 she began a long career working at Alcoa. She was the first black female hired for office staffing. She worked as a personal secretary for Alcoa for 35 years until she retired. After retiring from Alcoa she went to school to become a nail technician and worked at Annie's Nails for 6 years. Geraldine married Oscar Sharpe in 1956. Their son, Jeffery Scott Sharpe, was born in 1957. Geraldine always had a relationship with the Lord and attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church during her childhood and into her adult years. The joy of Geraldine's life was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Jeffery Sharpe, her sister Doris Barnett, brother Jerry Lowe (Norma), two grandchildren John Sharpe (Mary) and Rebekah Sharpe, three great-grandchildren Makayla Sharpe, Maxine Sharpe and Julia Sharpe and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
