Liz introduced me and influenced me in my decision to come to Duke.(Far from my hometown near Boston) I remember how kind she was. It was then the decision to come to Duke that opened so many doors. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.
You may not remember me, but I met you, Elizabeth and your family a few years ago at a reception held at Mount Desert Island Hospital in honor of Elizabeth's mother, Barbara. Elizabeth's father, Charles, had donated a painting to be hung outside of our Oncology department in Barbara's memory. I had the chance to get to know Elizabeth as we kept in touch after that, and the last I had heard from her, she wasn't doing very well. A piece of mail we recently sent was returned, which is how I learned of her passing. I am so deeply sorry for you and your family's loss; although I only knew her for a little while, she touched my life in so many ways. I will remember her always and am blessed to have met all of you.
Oh, Michael...I had a dream about Japan and Elizabeth was there. We lost touch, I wanted to contact you...and I found this news. I am so sad. Some of my happiest days in Japan are connected with her and I remember her kindness, great sense of humor and love of life. Please accept our condolences. Stay strong.
Sorry to learn of Elizabeth's passing. We haven't been in touch in a while but her courage and perseverance left a lasting impression on us.
Michael, Alex and Victoria,
I was so saddened to hear of Elizabeth's passing. There will always be a special place in my heart for her and your family. Her example of determination and hope will live on for all who were witness to her courage. I've been a better mom because of watching Elizabeth parent her young daughters - I am sure her love for all of you is what sustained her through the battle. Thank you for sharing Elizabeth. You have one very special angel.
Got to know Elizabeth and the girls when I worked at St. Rita Church. So sorry to hear of her passing; she was a giving and compassionate person. Praying for strength, comfort, and happy memories for the family.
A wonderful caring sister in law. She was always there and kind to all. I will. Miss her very much
Jan and I are so sad to say goodbye to such a sweet cousin. our prayers and thoughts are with Michael and the rest of the family today. May God heal your hearts. Love, Jan and Jeanne
May God strengthen you all as you look for your own ways to recognize Elizabeth's strength, endurance, and courage with her illness and the beautiful times of her life with you. May she flourish in your hearts and watch over you from above.
I feel fortunate to have had Elizabeth as a good friend these past 20 years, and will always treasure the many experiences and memories we and your family shared. She was a very strong, talented and brave woman, and an inspiration to many, myself included. I am heart-broken over her loss, and she will be greatly missed.
I met Elizabeth years ago through The Solon Civic Club. I was saddened to hear about Elizabeth. She was one of the loveliest people (inside & out) that I have met. We talked about her ongoing battle and her hopes of staying with her family during her daughters' milestones in life. May you all be comforted in your happy memories of her.
What an honor it was to get to know her in the years we cared for her beloved dog Diva were I work. I am sure that Diva was waiting for her when she arrived finally out of pain. Rest in peace sweet lady, you deserve it. You will be missed. Your family is in my prayers.
Michael, Alexandria and Victoria,
Our thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Elizabeth was so brave to handle such a burden since the mid 90's. We are here for you in this time of trial.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this most difficult time. Elizabeth was an intelligent woman with a great sense of humor. She often spoke of her daughters, she was extremely proud of them. I will never forget working with Elizabeth in the health office at PSI, we shared good times and challenging ones. Elizabeth was an excellent and caring nurse. It was a privilege to know her!
I write to convey our heartfelt condolences to you and your daughters during this time when your dear wife passed away. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

To Elizabeth's Dear Family, I got to know Elizabeth over the years from her visits to Walgreen's, and got to know you, her family, whom she spoke of with pride and love. She was always concerned about others and was one of the sweetest,
strongest and bravest people I knew, always a smile no matter how she was feeling. May God hold her and you all in his loving arms and comfort you. Good bye Elizabeth, I will miss that warm beautiful smile. Marlene from Walgreen's
My condolences to you and your family. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you peace and healing in the new year.
Michael, Alexandria and Victoria,
We know heaven gained one, but we really lost an angel here on Earth. Elizabeth was such an inspiration and role model to us all. We are all blessed just to have had her in our lives. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
Dear Elizabeth's loving family,
I met Elizabeth a couple of years ago when she would visit my sister, Trish Morgan, as part of a prayer group from St. Rita's. My sister suffered from ALS and Elizabeth was one of the women who would visit and care for my sister. Elizabeth was a truly remarkable woman - strong in faith and always positive while going through her own medical issues. She was truly an inspiration to me. Please be comforted by good memories and the love she left behind for your family.
Michael, Alex, Victoria,
You have lots of candles around you now. Our deepest condolences are extended to you all.
May your fondest memories of Elizabeth sustain you during this diffcult time.
Michael, Alex and Victoria,
Elizabeth was such a brave, strong woman. She faced such a battle, and you all suffered along with her for many years. We think of you now at this time of loss and pray that you find peace in knowing that she suffers no more. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Love, the Jira family
My dear friend Elizabeth,
Remembering you brings back memories of the both of us raising our children when we were all just starting out 20 years ago. I tried to help you, to be a shoulder you could lean on, and lend a helping hand in your time of need. I remember meeting your mom and family, and spending time together and helping out with Victoria and Alexandra, and in the kitchen. My son Deen told me he had run into you last year, and it brought back a flurry of memories of our friendship and special times we shared together such as with the Welcome Wagon, and Cooking club where we each prepared a dish and went to different host houses, teas with Japanese ladies so you could also have an opportunity to brush up on your Japanese. You take me back to a special time and place Elizabeth. When we give we get so much back, thank you for giving me that opportunity that I could hopefully be of assistance in your time of need. Although our lives had taken us down different paths, you will always be in my heart. In your picture you look just as beautiful as when I first met you so many years ago. A dedicated wife and loving mother, you made every day count. May your family's hearts be filled with wonderful memories of the joyful times you all spent together as you celebrate a life well lived.
