Wow...I'll never forget in the early 1990s when my brother's best friend in high school, Mike, was battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, I would get photos signed by celebrities to cheer him up. So I contacted the 49ers to get an autographed photo of Joe Montana. When I picked it up from my friend, he said, "And I have one from RC Owens too (he was working for the 49ers then)." In my ignorance, I showed no response, but said thank you. So that night I bring the photos to Mike, thinking he would be blown away by the Joe Montana photo, and I said, "Oh, and I have one of RC Owens too, Alley Oop or something like that???" Mike couldn't believe it. He was SO excited because he knew what that photo meant. So did my brother and they both kind of laughed at me and said "What's wrong with you? He's legendary in football!" And then I did some research! That photo, the extra gesture by Mr. Owens when he heard about what I was doing for Mike, meant so much to Mike. What a class act.
