HAROLD THOMAS

THOMAS HAROLD THOMAS, D.O. passed away peacefully in the arms of the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Margaret, on April 13, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews who all stood by his side, holding his hands and telling him how very much they love him. He will forever be in the hearts of his wife Margaret (nee Clarke); children Paul (Julia), Leila Grumbos (Mike), Marleina Davis (Dylan) and Eleina; and his nine grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, Gabrielle, Kiersten, Jillian, Courtney, Aiden, Madison, Elle, Ryan and Brooke. He enjoyed a close and loving relationship with his brothers and sister, and their wonderful spouses: Edward (deceased, wife Mary Ann), Chuck (wife Minerva, both deceased), Faye Assi (Ralph, deceased), William (Joyce), George (Ann), and James (Debbie). He was a devoted uncle to their children, his many nieces and nephews. He was a treasured son of the late Ghattas and Sameera Thomas. "Dr. Harold" graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received his medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to become a nationally known Osteopathic Physician who served his profession as President of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chairman of the Board of the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists, Chairman of the Commission of Osteopathic College Accreditation and member of many other national and local boards and committees; and Vice President of Medical Affairs and Director of Graduate Medical Education of Richmond Heights Hospital. He received countless awards including the ACOFP's Lifetime Achievement Award, ACOFP Physician of the Year Award and the Ohio Osteopathic Association Distinguished Service Award. He practiced for almost 50 years in Euclid, Garfield Heights and Mentor along side his brothers, Dr. George and Dr. Jim, and his son Dr. Paul. He will be remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, the hundreds of residents he trained and the thousands of patients he treated who knew and loved him as a generous, caring and thoughtful individual. VISITATION will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 16 FROM 2PM - 6PM AND SUNDAY, APRIL 17 FROM 4PM - 6PM AT THE MONREAL FUNERAL HOME, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church 2587 W 14th St, Cleveland, OH 44113. Please meet at church.
