She was the first face I saw at North Carolina A&T State University and the last face I saw when I graduated. She was a large part of my college life on campus. She was straight forward and a great story teller. She shared her experiences in life to help me to make valid decisions on the next steps I would take in my own life. She knew when to be delicate and when to be tough. A beautiful gift has left to receive her crown in glory. I cannot imagine how many precious jewels she has earned in her crown. I am sure it is glorious on her beautiful head of hair, which I know is done to perfection. (Those of you who remember, she made sure that she had her hair down like clock work and would make sure you knew how important it was to keep your head done as well) Transferring from California to North Carolina was a huge for me and you helped me to make that transition by teaching what was allowed and taboo on the East Coast (smile). I will treasure your shared wisdom and pass it on to my daughter who is attending and HBCU in the fall. Your love is waiting for you up there and may your reunion be ever so sweet. You carried the torch for him for many, many, many years after his death in Vietnam. Therefore, I hold the excitement in my heart for the two of you reuniting. I love you with all my heart.

Ms. Devane was my Dorm Director when I lived in Vanstory Hall at A&T for my freshman and sophomore years. I remember having some pretty straightforward and "Mama" like talks with her. She was so concerned that we make the right decisions and not take our time in college for granted. I will forever remember her care and concern. I send my love and condolences to her family and friends. She was a special woman.

As children my family lived down the road from Little Alice that's what we called her as kids. She treated us more like her close family, but we were only cousins. The last few years she were at all the Family Funerals, Family Holiday dinners, and Weddings. I took for granted that she was just a phone call away and that I regret. I Loved her like a sister I will miss her. We loved her but God loved her more. Go in Peace Little Alice.

Ms. DeVane was the Dorm Directory at Vanstory Hall. I was the first Freshman Resident Assistant under her leadership. When she met me she said, I know you can do the job. She was correct. She was a joy to work under and she took great care of us girls. I loved everything about her. Students today need more Alicia DeVane's in their lives. She kept me rooted and grounded as a student and as a woman of Class and Dignity. The Vanstory Roses have certainly lost and Angel. Heaven will be a better place with her there.

Ms. Devane was a family friend and Dorm mother of Vanstory Hall. I loved her spunk, positive spirit, and "tell it like it is" personality. She was a strong, beautiful lady. I will greatly miss her.... Land family
