Nicholas A. Bisogno Sr., 75
HENDERSON — Nicholas Anthony "Nick" Bisogno Sr., 75, of 3008 Old County Home Road, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at his home.
Born on April 9, 1939 in Carbondale, Pa., he was the son of the late Antonio Bisogno and Stella Sofin Bisogno.
He was a 21 year Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Nicholas began his military career in October of 1957 serving with the 82nd Airborne and Communications.
Nick was owner and President of Nick & Sons Truck Repair Service and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
The funeral will be held Thursday, July 24th, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church by Father James Gillespie. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Faircloth Bisogno of the home; two daughters Carol B. Eber of Forest, Va. and Karen B. Short of Henderson; two sons, Nicholas A. Bisogno Jr. of Winnbow and Charles A. Bisogno of Wake Forest; seven grandchildren, Laura Knott, Jennifer Short, Brian Bisogno, Leah Eber, Macy Bisogno, Sarah Short, and Max Bisogno; one great grandchild, Alex Knott; one brother, Anthony Bisogno of Auburn, N.Y.; and three sisters, Lee B. Meyers of Union Springs, N.Y., Marilyn B. Watson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mary B. Sawdey of Auburn, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Esther Ruth Cannady Bisogno; one granddaughter, Kara Grace Bisogno; and one sister, Carol Ann Bisogno.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at his home at 3008 Old County Home Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Bruce Stevenson, Jr., Richard Gurrant, Mark Kelly, Larry Bullock, Dave Eber, and Jennifer Short.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536.
