Thank you everyone for all of your words of encouragement. I cannot speak on the man that you all knew my grandfather for. Although I did not see him after leaving Gray many years ago, (Jones County High School Class of 1981) he continues to impact my life through the lessons and values he taught me and demonstrated. My heart is breaking this morning to find out about Mr. Curtis passing. He meant so much to me and the especially to the graduating classes of 73-77!!!
I was a manager for the Varsity girls basketball team for those years and I can tell you we really had some wonderful times. We really had a wonderful program and He MADE the Boy's Program with his excellant skills as a Coach and as an Assistant Principal. I also cherished Mr. Guthrie that passed during his tenure for the Board of Education during this time.
I didn't know he ever coached or worked for the Board of Education in Soperton. I have many family in that area and that area and Adrian, Emanuel County, they were mostly Smiths.
I will be in much prayer for all of you during this time. May God's Grace wrap around you and comfort you now and thru out the days and years to come.
