I was obsessed with the Cowboys as a kid in the 70s. Robert Newhouse was--and still is--my favorite all-time NFL player. He was a unique and unforgettable player, and by all accounts a really decent, caring person. I don't think he knew how much he meant to so many of us.

RIP Robert Newhouse. I somehow missed this news. You brought me much joy as a Cowboy fan. Thank you.

Dear Newhouse Family,
I just heard about the passing of the great Robert Newhouse. I had the great joy of meeting him in the 70's. Robert would fly his sister weekly on Southwest since she lived with him and his family. You could tell how much he adored his much younger sister and I had the pleasure of making certain she would be cared for after she landed at Love Field. Robert would pick her up with a huge smile of joy on his face when he saw her. I could tell what a loving and kind person he was. I would love to have had a big brother like him. His smile lit up the airport when he arrived. So humble... so kind. One day Robert walked up and thanked me for always taking care of his sister in the event he was running late to pick her up. He gave me an autographed Dallas Cowboy pennant signed by the Cowboys. He was a peach of a human soul! He will forever have a glorious spirit and I will never forget him!

Worked with him delivering appliances for Sears the summer before his senior year. He would generously come over to talk to me when he'd see me on campus. What a great guy he was I remember.
