Boy, what a history! Sadly we are slowly losing some really special people that did great things during their lifetime. RIP, Mr. Durning. Condolences to his family.

As an aged soldier suffering from PTSD, who mistakenly thought he had killed a fellow soldier, in an episode of NCIS, Mr. Durning brought me to tears. Mr. Durning was gifted, talented, and above all, truly a class act. In a world of wannabes, he was the real thing. God rest your soul.

In memory of Charlie:

About 11 years ago I was directing my second movie, a small indie named "Dead Canaries". I was amazed to find out that Charlie liked the script and consented to play the led...a tough newspaper man.

In the 3 weeks of shooting I got to know Charlie on a personal level. This was one terrific man and human being. He was a war hero, a father and a gentleman. We kept in touch for many years and even got together when he was in NY.

Charlie was a great actor and an even better person. I will miss him. Luckily for all of us we are also able to watch his movies and remember what a great man this was.
