DAVID “CHICO” VASQUEZ was a Proud Marine with service in Viet Nam serving with “C” Company – 1st Marine Division – Force Recon. Chico was also a very Proud Veteran and active member of AMVETS – Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley (VNVDV) – V.F.W. & Warriors Watch Riders, working with the Diablo Valley Flag Brigade in escorting veterans to “Operation Welcome Home” events upon their return to our community. He loved riding his “MY Recon” Harley.
One of his other enjoyable activities included participating as part of the “crew” on a VietNam era UH-1 HUEY Helicopter owned & operated by VietNam Helicopters in Concord. Chico flew to many High Schools in the San Ramon Valley landing at the school and being part of the school's VietNam History Week program featuring speakers from VNVDV and other crew from WW II – Korea – Desert Storm Wars. He so enjoyed talking with students as they gathered in an open field around the HUEY waiting to interview military veterans and get a close-up look at real history. He always had a smile on his face and will be missed.
The Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley “Salute” David “Chico” Vasquez and Thank him for his service to our Country and will pay Tribute to him at their August 7th Dinner Meeting at Crow Canyon Country Club. Our thoughts & prayers go out to the entire Vasquez Family during this difficult time. God Bless “Chico” – his service will never be forgotten.

I was sorry to hear of the loss of Dave. I knew him from our time together in Information Systems at CSAA where Dave supported our telecommunications systems. We both got outsourced to Systemhouse in 1997 where I had the pleasure of working alongside Dave on various projects. We also socialized at various functions in Napa County, walking the Lafayette Resevoir, or going to car shows in Contra Costa County. Dave was a very outgoing fun guy to be around and we had a lot of good discussions about life and love, and our mutual affection for cars and motorcycles. Dave was a proud veteran like me and as all of you know a strong patriot who was proud of his service in Vietnam with the USMC. RIP Mr. Vasquez. You will be missed.
