Melvin L. Rock

MILLERSBURG: Melvin L. Rock, 88, of Millersburg passed away on Thursday, February 07, 2013, at the Majora Care Center, Millersburg following an extended illness. He was born on April 29, 1924 in Apple Creek to the late James W. & Rosa (Morr) Rock.

Melvin was a carpenter with Gibbons - Grable Co., he retired in 1985. Since retiring he has been driving the Putchtown Coach hauling Amish in the Holmes County area. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of Pigeon Run United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his care giver great-niece, Onita ( James E.) Lowe of Millersburg, many other nieces and nephews; a step-son, Hugh Smiley and a step-daughter Cheryl Brooks; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rock, a brother, Laverene J. Rock; three sisters, Gladys Reynolds, Mary Franks and Elsie Sprankle; and step-son, Tommie Smiley.

Friends may call on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 5:00PM -8:00PM at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 1:00PM at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Douglas Hudson Officiating. Burial will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery.
