You can see how much of an impact he had on many of us at the Alternative School and we have never forgotten that after all of these years. He was a genuine, wonderful teacher and mentor and blessed all who knew him. Prayers are going out for all of his family and friends.

Dottie,
Conversations with Jack always were invigorating and fun. Through him and his teaching partners at the A school, we learned what education could be. Most importantly, Jack taught us a great deal about integrity and caring for each other, two keys to surviving this insane existence. I wrote to him for many years after graduating and he always responded with funny and gracious letters. All of us who knew Jack Hinger are better for it. Peace to you and your family.

Mrs. Hinger (Dottie) and Family,
Words just don't seem to be enough to explain our feelings right now but I know that words are powerful and Mr. Hinger (Jack) was a man of many words and understood their power. I'll remember his independence, intelligence, energy, and personality just to name a few. Hopefully you can find some comfort in these simple words as we celebrate his rich life. Please make this and all your days great ones.
Your Neighbors and Friends,
Ken Podolak, on behalf of our extended family.

Jack truly was an inspiration and contributed so much of himself teaching and as a person in general. I am so glad I was able to thank him at the reunion! My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family.

Jack Hinger was a candle in a very dark time of my life. His passion-as a teacher & as a person-was infectious. He CARED. God surely has a special place for this man who may never have known how he helped save a life. My prayers are with his family and friends. A great, great man.

Dad was my touchstone in life, and I miss him so much already. From his love of words to his liberal politics and lack of fashion sense, I got my leanings from him. Thanks to all of you for sharing your memories of him, it helps. And Janice from 4th grade -- amazing to hear from you :-) I'm at seeworthy@juno.com, if you want to catch up a little.

Mr. Hinger truly touched hundreds of lives. He was a wonderful teacher. He taught me during my junior year of high school in 1991. I will keep the Hinger family in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

Now as I remember, after my first trip to Africa, I gave Mr. Hinger one of the carvings I'd brought home. Always thought I'd see him again, he would have gotten a charge out of me becoming a Teacher.thanks , Bill Baker

I am so sorry to the Hinger family for your great loss. My father, Bill Tanguay, went to Muhlenberg College with Jack and we were later neighbors in the Delcrest section of Delran. My earliest memory of Jack was when my dad called him to ask his advice on grammar or conjugating a verb. Jack was always helpful and patient, usually making a joke it.
I went to Cambridge School with Judy and was lucky enough to be asked to her 9th (4th grade) birthday party. I only remember that Hungarian Goulash was served, and I never had it before and was not too willing to try it. Jack made a point to 'teach' the value of taking the opportunity to try new things. And it was really, really good.
Our family moved to Cinnaminson the next year and our paths crossed again when I was in high school. I never had Jack as a teacher, but I knew him as a well respected educator and the only teacher who let you call him by his first name.
(Hi Judy!)

I graduated from CHS in 1968--the second graduating class ever. Mr. Hinger was amazing. I tranformed into "Cecily" in our class performing "The Importance of Being Earnest". So--out of the box. I am retired after 34 years of teaching high school. He was truly an inspiration.

Mr Hinger was an inspirational and passionate teacher. I graduated in 72, and missed the "Alt School". He is among my favorite memories of CHS. Debbie Lippincott Williams

Dear Family of Mr. Hinger,
My thoughts are with you mourn the loss of a teacher I will always remember - Jack Hinger. He was an inspirational educator, a kind person and good listener, and really cared about his students' growth both educationally and as young adults. He continues to inspire me when I reflect on my 30 years in education. Bless you Mr. Hinger and the family lucky enough to know him for so many years.

A vibrant and passionate man who inspired everyone he met. Cinnaminson High School was never the same after he retired and i think the world will likewise, be a little less interesting without Jack Hinger in it.

J. Thaddeus's memory will be a blessing to his students. He was a great help and mentor to me, and my sympathies are with his friends and family. May God be with you.

I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of Jack Hinger's passing. He was one of my favorite teachers at the Cinnaminson Alternative School in the early 1970's . He shared lunch time with me sometimes and would eat peanuts out of a bag. He was an excellent listener for all of us students. He and his wife even came to my wedding ( to David Bliss , another student at the A school) that meant so much to me. God bless Jack . He made a big impression on me .
July 27, 2013
He was one of my favorite teachers ever. He made me think and he is one of the reasons I became a teacher. A true role model. Still try to emulate him from time to time.

Mrs. Hinger, Jim, Loraine and family, Judy, Jack... Very sorry for your sudden loss. Maureen and my prayers are with you and your family. Jack (always Mr. Hinger to me) will be deeply missed. Although I only ran into him a few times since their move from Windsor Drive, my inumerable memories of him are all really great ones.... from the incredible camping trips as a kid he took the neighborhood on, to his teaching me how to play chess, his constant classical music playing every time I entered the house, his garden and his incredible bicyling regiments, and always putting up with myself and the rest of the DePasquales borrowing every tool and piece of lanscaping equipment he ever owned, and every time I saw him he always had a smile and asked about my kids by name. The sound of him yelling through the neighborhood "Jimmy.....Dinner" is forever etched in my memory. His editorials in the Coriour were classic. He was a very special man who was a positive influence on all. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
