John Sherako
AGE: 74 • Haddon Heights
John Sherako, 74, of Haddon Heights passed away surrounded by family on July 31, 2014 following a sudden illness. Born in Shenandoah, PA, he graduated from Penn State University, where he met his future wife Pamela. They recently commemorated their 50th anniversary with a trip to Paris.
Dear husband of Pamela (nee Harrison), beloved father of Jill Sherako, Marlton, NJ and David Sherako (Janelle) of San Diego, CA. His greatest treasures were his grandchildren Harley, Mira, and Dylan. Also survived by Brothers Frank (Judy) of Sebastian FL and Thomas (Marilyn) of Westlake, Ohio; nieces Hope Hogan (Mason), Natalie Johnson (Brad), Caroline Klessel (James) and nephew Adam Sherako (Kim). He valued and nurtured life-long friendships and had a generous heart. He will live forever in loving memories of the many lives he touched.
John began his career in 1961 at Delsea Regional High School. 8 years later, after obtaining his M.A degree, he began his 25 year career at Eastern Regional High School. He was a dedicated and gifted Guidance Counselor; active in many areas of school life - throughout his years there he directed the senior play, worked with the band, as well as supported students (he always referred to them as "his kids"). Nothing surpassed his love for his family and friends, but his passion for the arts and classic movies was a close second. Upon retirement he began a 14 year career as an Admissions Representative for Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church, 200 Windsor Avenue, Haddonfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family request donation to The John Sherako Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o TD Bank, 500 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035, or Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, Utah 84741.

I miss my BFF as we vowed to each other on John and Pam's wedding day! Remembering with lots of love the many celebrations we shared with our children and photos "on the steps" as they were growing up; birthdays, anniversaries, and being Godfather to Derrick. I will always treasure the special relationship with "John and Pam" with Love!

I am so sorry to hear that Johnny passed away. Even though we were far apart in age and distance, I have fond memories of my cousin Johnny. He was a really special guy and it was always great to see him at Aunt Estelle's. I looked up to him like a big brother. I wish you and the family strength in the coming days.

In the loss of your Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend when you think of his smile may you always be reminded of all the good times you have shared together. When you talk about the kind person John was, may you always feel proud to know he was an extraordinary man and when you hear all the stories people tell you about him may it bring you comfort in knowing just how much this man meant to so many me included and just how lucky we all are for having known him. With my deepest sympathy. I'll always remember your loved one, my friend each and everyday.

I didn't grow up in Haddon Hts, but had the pleasure of meeting Mr & Mrs Sherako a few times after meeting Dave my Junior year. Our families still remain close friends. After reading the Legacy entries it is clear to me Mr & Mrs Sherako raised a boy with many of the same qualities they possess. Dave shares his dad's sense of humor, dedication to friendships and family and charm, to say the least. My heart is saddened ... deepest sympathy to every one of the family members, friends & students he has touched along his journey. May you find peace and comfort in the sentiments shared & in God's Love.

His inspiring words will always be with me and for that I am enternally grateful. I hope he knew how many of us he touched and how many of us he showed the things we were so very capable of ... but didn't know it at the time. Thank you, John!
