Bettye Allen
Evansville, Indiana
Bettye Allen, 90, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. She was born July 4, 1921, in Posey County, Indiana.
Bettye graduated from the Evansville School of Nursing where she was a member of the very first class of Licensed Practical Nurses. She then worked at Deaconess for a year and a half before serving 25 years at St. Mary's where she retired.
She enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bettye was a member of Howell General Baptist church for many years and most recently attended Keck Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth L. Williams; second husband, Monte Allen; daughter, Nancy Gard; granddaughter, Carissa Babb and eight brothers and sisters, Richard, Gerald, Bob, Bernard "Pat", Paul "Boss" Jeffries, Toni Bynum and Ruth McCabe.
Bettye is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Babb and granddaughters, Lorissa Gallion (Jim) and Sarah Gard; and great grandchildren, Drew, Dane, and Mary.
Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dane Gray, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from Noon until service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a "special thanks" to VNA Charlier Hospice Center as well as Dr. David Schultz.
