God Bless you, Layla. I will always remember you and your sweet smile. I think of you, and I hope you remeber me. No words can take away your pain, but I know your Mom is proud of you and watching over you. I am sorry for your loss and pain, that still remains. I am sure you are a stunning and smart young lady now. Take good care of yourself. Love always,
Stephanie Blundell "Stephi"
Remembering Ashley and thinking of the loving family she left behind five years ago. I hope that time has smoothed some of the sharp edges of your loss.
I am Layla's 6th grade teacher. The students are doing a writing piece about something in their lives that has caused a change. Layla has chosen to write about you, Ashley. Layla pulled up this website to gather information for her writing. I noticed this guestbook and wanted to share what an amazing young lady Layla is becoming. I am so lucky to have her in my class this year- you should be very proud. -Aimee Hamilton
Thinkin of the day, when you went away, what a life to take, what a bond to break I'll be missin you...I know you're still livin your life after death...AJM...? everyday that passes is a day that I get closer to seein you again...we miss you with every step I take and every move I make... Mom i will always miss you1
I loved my mom and i wish she was still alive
Ashley was my muse. I was priviledged to have Ashley as my client. I was Ashley's hair stylist and when Ashley came into the salon she had the attention of any room she walked into. I was always proud to have Ashley in my chair because I would have a small audience watching me twirl or beautiful red hair in the air and magicly bouncing into place. She modeled for me for a national hair styling contest and it was Ashley's picture that was the winner of the competition. Her photo had recieved attention from all over the world! Truly there are critics as far as Japan praising her! I miss you Ashley and you will always be my number one muse! I dont mean to disrepect by listing my website but unfortuatly my iPhone won't allow me to add photo's. You can tag her photos if you would like. www.curtisblue.com
I am from Evansville, In., and I have not been able to forget this incident or the outpouring of love for Ashley. I have thought of Mr. Bashaw since this was published and just wondered how he is doing. I check the guest book occaisionly and if there any new additions and obviously there are several. My mother also new Ashley's great aunt, Mrs. Oertwig. Please, if possible, forward this to Mr. Bashaw and tell him that I still think of his loss and wonder how he is doing. And if he wishes to contact me that would be fine. No need to publish this. Thank you so much. Mary Wheeler
The bravest thing a man can do is love a woman. Your words to Ashley are truly beautiful, and I know she hears them.
She has found peace in heaven, and I pray you find your peace, here on earth.
My Dear Lady Ashley
The wild flowers floating in the purity of water are for you. You tell me the events and circumstances of life are not undirected, nor with out purpose. That we are where we were meant to be, as we were 500 years ago, as we will be 500 years from now.
I believe in our love…. forever hereafter, for eternity I am yours as you are mine. Michael
Anyone who met Ashley was immediately drawn to her not only because of her stunning beauty, but because of her kind, gentle soul. Even though brief, our friendship created an ever lasting memory of her and the fun times that we shared. We will miss her smile and laughter. Her memory is a reminder to us all to keep loved ones always in our heart and prayers. Give them a warm hug when you see them, because a treasure of the heart is one that only you can give. Love always...
My condolences to Ashley's friends and family.
How could someone so vibrant, gentle and maternal be taken away? I worked with Ashley briefly at Rainbow Montessori in Scottsdale. She had infinite patience with children and had such a light. I remember thinking "She is such a great mom". Her daughter, family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
You don't know me -- I'm a long-time friend of your Grandma Barbara & your Daddy. I didn't know your Mommy, but I have heard wonderful things about her & how much she loved you. I know you will miss her "like crazy" but just know she rests with God & He has a special place for her. Be strong for her, as she will always be with you in your heart & watching over you. You have a wonderful Daddy and grandparents who love you so very much.
Lotsa hugs, Brenda
I just found out about Ashley's passing. My prayers go out to her daughter and family during this difficult time.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Maria and I were introduced to Ashley a little over two years ago. Over that time we became friends with her and Layla, a charming young lady. The night of her tragedy we talked for almost two hours. We learned more about her goals in life and her desire to be an attorney. Seemed anxious to finish school and was already looking to interview.
We wish our thoughts could be collected to express our sympathy in a way that has not already been done. The words that come to mind would be; too yong, too beautiful, too nice, and too much to live for.
Our sincere condolences go to Ashley's Layla, her family and everyone that loved dearly.
I'd like to say a few words of tribute to this special woman, an attempt from me and on behalf of others who may find it too difficult for words…..
Ashley’s death has stunned, bewildered and tormented those close to her. It’s not enough to say that she will be missed terribly. An adoring partner, mother, daughter, and friend…those of us who knew her are the luckier for it. I know we wish so much for it all to be otherwise, but sooner or later we need to come to terms with this loss and afford her the great measure of dignity she deserves. And while Ashley gave much to us all, I hope we can take comfort in knowing and remembering the happiness our various friendships and relationships gave to her.
Some things are just too difficult to accept all at once and we will do our best to manage our acceptance of the grief and loss we feel. And so Ashley, your friends and loved ones sadly bid you farewell. In the long days now before us, it may help to remember the times we had already shared with you, the things we experienced with you and enjoyed, and to be eternally grateful for that.
Sleep well, Ashley. Your spirit will live on through each and every one of us.
Ashley was a good friend of mine during my time at Memorial and I think of her often. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Although we were unable to attend the memorial service we want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
To the Miller family,
I express my condolences to all of you. "The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places." -Ernest Hemingway. Death is always a hard thing to face, but if your family is anything like Ashley, I am sure you will find the strength to accept and always cherish her memory. I knew her vaguely, from her frequent visits to the Water’s Edge, but every time I saw her she had a external glow that radiated from the inside of her which is so rare to see in people during this day and age. Her presence put a smile on most every face in the restaurant and especially on Michael’s.
I wish I had a chance to get to know her better because of what a wonderful person she clearly was, and is through memories. And incase none of the other Water’s Edge staff members find this, I will tell you all that we miss seeing her very much. She is loved by all of us.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers hoping you all find the strength to persevere through this difficult time.
I am truly sorry for your loss. Ashely was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by all of those who knew her. I will be praying for the entire Miller family during this difficult time.
I close my eyes and I see Ashley in my minds eye. So many memories of her as the caring and loving mother of Layla; her lyrical laughter, her beautiful hair shimmering in the afternoon sun as she leans over to swoop up Layla to give her an embrace and greet her at the end of the school day. It would falls across her shoulders and face. The scent of shampoo, strawberries or something fruity and fresh, I can’t put my finger on it, but lovely to smell and admire.
The last time I saw her at Tim’s restaurant with Layla; sharing her wonderful stories and pictures about Michael’s daughter wedding and the trip to Mexico, laughing at her remembering to have Layla bring back sand for my playground’s sandbox and, of course, delighting at her remembering my love of her cooking and accepting her generosity of her wonderful pumpkin bread. She shared so much of herself.
Ashley might be gone, but her essence is not gone. So much of what I see in Layla is her mother. Although it might seen short, only 6 short years as a mother, Ashley had still none the less, left a wonderful mark, and her spirit will live on in her daughter. Layla has Ashley’s spirit, confidence, friendliness and kindness; the love of animals, princesses, yoga, shopping, and reading to name a few. Layla’s smart mind and quick wit, all these are Ashley’s gift to Layla. These things will live on in Layla and some day she, too, will be a regal beauty just as her mother was.
Words can’t not express enough of the sadness that I have been feeling this past week for this terrible lose of life. My condolences seem like shallow words that can’t hold a candle to the light that was this wonderful women’s life. Humbly, I offer them to all that love and cared for Ashley.
I remember playing dress up and dancing with Ashley. We had so much fun growing up. She always had such and incredible family. I am so sorry for your loss. You all are in my prayers.
Ashley was never short of lovely each and every time I saw her. She carried herself with grace and beauty. She will be missed by so many and remembered always.
We share your sorrow as you remain in our thoughts and prayers.
May your memories bring you comfort and may God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
John, Donna, Kodi and Ryan Juliano (Fountain Hills, Arizona)
Ashley will always be among us, I will not refer to her in past tense!

No one deserves to have someone so special taken so soon, so early. Peace in the loss of my "little cousin" and first best friend. Ephesians 3:14-21
